Watchfire® Case Study: Watch What Happens.

CATEGORY :: St. Francis Hospital - Mooresville -
Mooresville, Ind.
Background
Just like the city in which it is housed, St. Francis
Hospital - Mooresville continues to provide more services and
opportunities, while maintaining the small-town atmosphere that
patients have come to expect and appreciate. Their old
sign, expensive to maintain and limited in terms of connecting
with the community, was to be replaced as part of a campus
expansion. St. Francis Hospital - Mooresville turned to Sign
Solutions and installed a new, full-color Watchfire LED
sign.
Results
Since their Watchfire LED sign was installed, the hospital has
enjoyed significant cost savings of an estimated $3,500 a
year. Gone are a costly annual maintenance
contract, parts and labor to replace bulbs, and high energy
consumption. The impact on the bottom-line has been impressive,
including a return on investment from the marketing messages that
can be shared with the community.

Case Study
The personal yet ever-changing nature of healthcare demands
efficiency without sacrificing quality. Since 1861 St. Francis
Hospital - Mooresville in Indiana has been dedicated to serving the
community with an eye on these guiding principles. When their
old message center could no longer communicate well
with the public, they decided to make a change. Their outdated
four-cell incandescent sign was cumbersome to program, and could
not deliver efficient messages that were up to date. The annual
maintenance contract fee was $5000, and the old bulbs had to be
changed frequently, resulting in further parts and labor costs.
Looking for something with an easy interface and a low ongoing cost
of operation, St. Francis turned to Sign Solutions, a local
Watchfire dealer.
Because hospitals prioritize expenditures for items that directly
improve patient care, gaining administrative approval for a new
sign could have been difficult. Fortunately, Dan Young, director of
facilities, analyzed the potential cost savings of switching to an
energy efficient LED sign, and the decision became one
of simple economics.
Just seven months after the new LED display was installed, the
hospital had already saved more than $2,000 in energy costs
and expected to save roughly $3,500 annually. Add to that the
elimination of the $5,000 annual maintenance contract and bulb
replacements. "After just a year and a half, the sign is well on
its way to paying for itself," said Kelli Searles, director of
community relations and marketing.
Besides reducing costs, the new message center supports the
hospital's mission to reach people on a very personal level...to
let them know the hospital is there for them. "With our old
sign, it would take one to two hours just to add just a few words,"
explained Searles. "Now, in a matter of seconds, we can update our
sign to include friendly messages, alert commuters to upcoming
health screenings, introduce new doctors, salute our employees and
more."
With a large campus expansion project completed in 2009, St.
Francis Hospital - Mooresville is excited about the marketing
opportunities their new Watchfire LED sign brings. "As part of an
integrated marketing campaign, we will incorporate the artwork that
appears in our print and television advertisements," said Searles.
"It is a level of campaign consistency we've never had before and
ultimately gives us more return on our overall marketing
investment. We couldn't be happier."
